The SC is handling all scientific affairs related to scientific congresses and meetings organised by the European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy. Their primary responsibility lies with reviewing and selection of submitted material for presentation.

Completed Projects

HandART Project: Hand Assessment Recommendations for Therapy (2016)
Lucelle van de Ven-Stevens started a project, including a Delphi Study, to reach consensus in Europe on instruments that can be used in Hand Therapy to evaluate body functions (impairments) and activity (limitations).
HandART: A core set of assessment tools to be used in Hand Therapy that includes as few instruments as possible to be practical, but as many as necessary to assess body functions and activities that are relevant to persons with a hand injury or hand disorder according to the Brief ICF Core Set for Hand conditions.

The European HANDGUIDEstudy (2009-2014)
Bionka Huisstede started a guideline project in February 2009 with a funding for three years. The goal was to achieve European consensus on treatment guidelines. The project resulted in five peer-reviewed publications, describing multidisciplinary consensus for treatment for Carpal tunnel syndrome (2014), Trigger finger (2014), de Quervain disease (2014), Guyon´s canal syndrome (2013) and Dupuytren´s disease (2013).

ICF Consensus Conference (2009)
The 'ICF Core Sets for Hand Conditions' have been developed by an International ICF Consensus group working in collaboration with WHO. The aim was to implement the ICF Core set for Hand Conditions and 'linking' it to daily clinical practice.
